General FAQs
No. You can go directly to your physical therapist for any musculoskeletal or neuromuscular pain, concerns, or movement impairments. We are Doctors of Physical Therapy, which means we are the medical specialists for movement, exercise, and neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
The short answer is no; we are an out of network provider. At Big Moves Physical Therapy & Performance, we prioritize providing quality care without the constraints of insurance companies. We provide the best treatment for YOU specifically, without having to justify to an insurance company why. Our focus is on delivering personalized treatment plans and exceptional service tailored to your individual needs, ensuring that you receive the best possible care without compromise. This results in better long-term outcomes in fewer sessions. We offer transparent pricing and flexible payment options to make our services accessible to all individuals seeking the highest quality care and wellness solutions. Though we do not participate with insurance, we can take HSA/FSA as payment. We will create a superbill or invoice upon request if you wish to submit for reimbursement through your insurance, however, reimbursement is not guaranteed.
IF YOU HAVE TRICARE
We are a certified out of network provider. This means TRICARE will reimburse a percentage (per your plan) of costs for TRICARE Select. TRICARE Prime beneficiaries can use the Point of Service Option for partial fee coverage. Unfortunately, TRICARE does not offer these options to Active Duty Service Members. If you are an Active Duty Service Member, we still want to be an option for you to receive the high quality care you deserve! We offer a military discount for physical therapy evaluations and treatments, recovery sessions, body work sessions, and strength and conditioning sessions. Our PFT and CFT prep workouts are already discounted, and packages of 5 and 10 classes are available for additional savings.
- A 75 minute evaluation is $165
- A 60 minute PT session is $145
- Groups and classes are $15 per class, or packages available
- Specialty services range by treatment
If you would like to, yes. We know it can be hard to arrange childcare for every little thing. Our office is family friendly. We have toys to entertain little ones and are always happy to hold a baby! Safety is our number one priority and ask that your little movers stay away from gym equipment and stay next to us during your session. We are all about your kiddos seeing you take care of yourself and move your body, and most of the time they want to join in too!
Pediatric FAQs
The best thing to do is ask us, the movement specialists. We offer free screenings where we can recommend scheduling a formal Evaluation to start PT, or give you some activities to try with your child first to see if that little extra help is all they need to progress with their development.
We are not fans of the "wait and see" method or hoping your child will “grow out of it.” Most of the time they do not, and it is better to address any delays or movement abnormalities as soon as possible. This makes it much easier for your child, prevents further delays and additional compensatory movement, and significantly lessens the number of physical therapy sessions needed.
We take your child’s development seriously and know this is the foundation for the rest of their life. Untreated conditions and movement abnormalities can result in issues later in childhood and adulthood; such as poor coordination, difficulty attaining higher level gross motor skills such as skipping or throwing and catching a ball, inability to keep up with other kids, difficulty with athletic performance, permanent bony structure abnormalities, increased risk of injuries, and pain.
Let us help you ensure your child thrives and set them up for success!
Nope.
We provide the best treatment specifically for your child, without limitations from session caps, meeting qualifiers for therapy, justifying the timeline at which your child is progressing, prior authorizations, and so on. We can accept HSA/FSA payments and create a superbill invoice for you to submit to your insurance company (reimbursement is determined by your health plan and is not guaranteed).
This is highly individualized - it depends on your child’s medical history, age, reason for treatment goals, and how fast they progress. Your doctor of physical therapy will give you and your child activities to work on and teach you how to practice skills with your child on a daily basis at home. The more you can work with them and incorporate the skills we are working into their daily life, the better they will progress. We will do however many sessions your child needs to meet your valued goals, with the frequency that best fits your family.
Yes, of course. We understand not being able to have child care to take one of your children to an appointment. However, we ask that your child (who is not receiving therapy services) is directly supervised by you at all times, remains safe in the clinic, and does not disrupt your child’s session or our other clients'.
Pelvic FAQs
We do a hands-on assessment of your muscles, joints, breathing patterns and movement analysis, particularly in positions or activities that are bothersome. We will take the time to discuss and educate you on what your pelvic floor is, and all the roles it has for your movement and bodily functions.
Pelvic floor physical therapy can be more intimate and personal than getting physical therapy for your knee pain. We ensure that your treatment sessions are held in a safe space, without judgment, and you will always be in control of the treatment options.
A screen of the pelvic floor musculature “down there” may be indicated for those with bowel, bladder, pelvic/hip pain or during pregnancy and postpartum. This screen is always up to you, and may involve an internal or external vaginal or rectal examination with your verbal consent.
The Pelvic Exam
The pelvic floor muscle assessment is similar to that of any other joint or muscle, with the exception of the unique access points to these muscle groups.
During an external examination, the pelvic floor anatomy is assessed through visual examination or palpation of the anatomy over clothes or on the skin.
During an internal assessment, the physical therapist gently inserts a lubricated, gloved digit into the vagina or rectum to assess pelvic floor muscle tone, coordination, strength and the presence of trigger points.
No matter the type of exam, the purpose is to gather data that will provide valuable information to the source of potential pelvic floor dysfunction and highlights effective treatment options.
We understand that you may be nervous about starting pelvic floor physical therapy. We honor these feelings and strive to create a safe and comfortable space for you to heal and progress. It's helpful to remember that every body has a pelvic floor, and everyone could use a bit more education about it.
If you are on your menstrual cycle, you can absolutely still come to your appointment! Being on your period does not disrupt pelvic floor treatment, and you can let your therapist know which assessment you are comfortable with that day.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in. Keep in mind we want to be able to see and assess the body region you are seeing us for.
